Gifts and donations for Sophie's medical fund are welcome and greatly appreciated!!

All funds raised for Sophie are placed into the "Sophie Grace medical Fund" where it will be used for medical and associated expenses. We currently have medical insurance which is covering the majority of the transplant costs minus deductibles for medicatioin prescribed weekly.

Sophie's current treatments:

Currently, Sophie is taking 12-13 medications and awaiting her liver transplant. Her long care treatment will include medications to assist her spleens with fighting infection, anti-rejections medications for her new liver ($3,000-$5,000; less with insurance deductables) a month, and other issues related to possible longterm kidney issues and eventual skin cancer related to the anti-rejections medication. Thus, we will have medical expenses for the rest of Sophie's life. With the long term care looking expensive and health care programs changing every few years, we have created this fund to help us help Sophie and build a fund to support her for years to come. Nelson Family-

The Nelson Family started in August 8th, 2001 when Ted and Holly were married in Fredericksburg Virginia after dating for almost 7 years. Being high school sweethearts, Ted and Holly went to North Stafford High School where they met and began dating. Following High School, Ted and Holly attended George Mason University where Ted earned a degree in Criminal Justice and Government and Holly earned a degree in Communication. Following college, Ted worked in Fairfax County as a school teacher and Holly as a public relations specialist in Washington D.C.. Following their wedding in August 2001, Holly began her career in real estate and Ted went to work for the Stafford Sheriffs Office.

The Nelson Family resides in the Fredericksburg area. Theodore Nelson is a Patrol Sergeant with the Stafford Sheriff's Office and Holly Nelson is a Real Estate agent with Long and Foster where she works with her mother in their family business. Sophie is one of two daughters and the youngest with her sister Savana being almost two years old. Additionally, we have two big dogs named Jimmy (American Pit) and Otis (Italian Mastiff).
